For everyone following Melrose’s social media these last few months you have probably already noticed that we have donned a very new and colorful hat! While we have not completely parted ways with our awesome lifestyle companies that have long been our bread and butter, we have decided to take the deep dive into the exciting world of technology.
As you all know, LA is quickly becoming a hotbed for the emerging tech and innovation industries. Silicon Beach, which barely even existed just 5 years ago, has already cemented itself as an epicenter for futuristic start-ups and industry leaders both (Melrose PR actually helped with outreach and sponsored the first ever Silicon Beach Fest back in 2012).
Year by year the scores of talent pouring out of local colleges are deciding to forgo Silicon Valley’s cooler air to stay put in the sunny city of angels. This new scene, especially evident in the software and programming spaces, is drawing in local and world-class talent alike to incubate their growing companies in Silicon Beach.
As an LA based company, we have been active followers of the booming tech market which already produced household names like SnapChat and Hulu. Understanding and valuing the immense growth potential of our clients led to a very natural transition for our company when in June we decided to take a plunge into technology public relations.
Melrose’s first tech client is already one of the world’s leading cloud software companies, Wiredrive. We helped them produce a VR themed mixer event in July that was a massive success. Currently we are helping get the word out about their industry leading DAM software, and working with them on their upcoming product announcements.
Our work with Wiredrive has thrust us into the tech spotlight and also connected us with some amazing clients. Weeks after starting with Wiredrive in June, we began work with a Venice Beach-based startup, Gem. This disruptive company is literally trying to ‘change the game’ with how businesses across the world connect to solve problems through the use of blockchain technology – the foundational engineering behind the infamous Bitcoin. This was a far cry from the products we were accustomed to marketing, however working with Gem has inspired us to push harder than ever to give our clients the stage that their breakthrough product deserves.
This momentum has compounded- as we now work with equity crowdfunding company StartEngine led by Activision co-founder Howard Marks, we recently worked with BTC media on the promotion of their Distributed conference series, and we are in talks with more major tech clients which we’ll be announcing soon!
In this moment, we are working with major tech brands to lead influencer-centric “Tech Innovation Dinners” where we curate a guest list of industry leaders and decision makers to foster conversation, within the space.
